I was chest down on the grass yesterday in NYC (yes ew ik but earth in the city) and I kept thinking, "I am home, I am home, I am home" and then here is this piece somehow making it to my feed. So perfectly articulated Nadia. Dios te bendiga.
I love that!! Earth is earth (anywhere) and our heart craves to meet it. I’m sure that as you laid there, the earth was whispering “I’m home” to herself as well! Sending you all my love.
oh my god, i loved this. this is definitely one of my favourites from this series. the personification of your heart and her needing a bigger pot than your chest is just the best imagery and metaphor ever. i can feel your heart longing for nourishment, for time in darkness, to be held, to be amongst the nostalgic memories of your life. i feel it all and its so beautifully written. amazing my friend!!
the repetition of burying the heart, it almost made it less painful? but the reminders of grief, the effort it takes to actually bury heartbreak deep in the recesses that all you want to do is smoke a cig, to fully sink in and let someone/something else heal you -- these poems always evoke something, stir something within me. thank you Nadia, I love this entire series so much!
